The purpose of the science centre is to stimulate an interest in science and engineering and arouse curiosity about the world we live in by providing displays and interactive exhibits. For schools visiting the Science Centre we run workshops, science shows and excursions for learners of all ages to spark an interest in Science and Engineering. We also try to create an awareness of the disciplines and programmes offered in Agriculture, Science, and Engineering at UKZN and to offer a glimpse of some current research at UKZN and its possible applications.

We don’t think that one size fits all and can help you design a program that suits your need and group size. STEC@UKZN is wheelchair friendly and we do cater for visitors with Special Educational Needs.

  • Choose the date for your visit at least 2 weeks ahead
  • Provide at least one alternative date

  • Name of the School
  • Name of the accompanying educator
  • Contact details of the educator
  • Contact number of the school
  • Preferred date and alternative date of your visit
  • Time of your visit
  • Details of learners attending (number and grade)
  • Any workshops, tours or talks that you want us to organise
